Hundreds of Thousands Spill Out on the Streets

The mass protests 2 weeks ago have doubled. Police estimate 1 million rallyists all across France, while organizers claim 2.6 million (See posts below). The nation-wide strike paralyzed public and transport services and even shut dow the Tour Eiffel. Dominique De Villepin's government will not back down, nor will the protesters.
Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, whose jobs plan for young people was the target of the nationwide protest, was already planning for the morning-after. He said he was open to discussing the details, but not the legitimacy, of his plan, and invited student and union leaders to meet when everyone goes back to work on Wednesday.
Center-left newspaper Le Monde published this map showing the extent of the protests yesterday.

As is the way of rallies and legally mandated thuggery, water canons, tear gas and arrests ran aplenty.
